Chatfield State Park: The bike trail ends at this sprawling park, which offers horseback riding, sailing, swimming and a gigantic balloon festival in August. High-Altitude Experiences In Denver. From here, you can bike south through the park to Waterton Canyon and the beginning of the Colorado Trail. The unpaved Colorado Trail runs for nearly 500 miles to Durango, Colo. however, parts of it are closed to biking.

After passing the Denver Aquarium and continuing along the trail, you come to a bridge that crosses the Platte River . There is an awesome paved trail that takes you along the river. There is also a park and shops and restaurants not far from the trail

After passing the Denver Aquarium and continuing along the trail, you come to a bridge that crosses the Platte River and you pass through Confluence Park where Cherry Creek meets the Platte River. At this point, there is a separate bike trail on one side of the Platte and a walking trail on the other side. As we were walking, joggers passed and there families with stroller and, people walking their pets. There is also a park and shops and restaurants not far from the trail. It's a great place to enjoy running, biking or walking along a river! Take a moment to relax in the patk or check out something nearby to eat. Nice little area.
