I bought this book in preparation for my trip to Cambodia. It did give me a lot of basic traveler's information concerning things to see, times to go, and information about the areas I would visit. There are included many names of restaurants, hotels etc. However, there are not a lot of color pictures, or details especially about the Angkor monuments. Also, the list of hotels, etc. is far from inclusive, and the maps are not as detailed as I wanted, so I heavily relied on internet information as a supplement. Some things, as I learned from Cambodian people, were outdated, such as some restaurants, etc. that I wanted to visit, even though this book was the fourth edition, dated August 2011. . It was a nice surprise, then, that I found another guide, sold by a vendor at the Angkor Thom monument in Siem Reap, called " Ancient Angkor" by Michael Freeman and Claude Jacques . This book was a great supplement, as it gave beautiful color pictures of all the major Khmer monuments there, with detailed information on each, and many site plans.
So, this book may be a good basic source of information, but I would not rely on it exclusively on any trip to Cambodia. I can only give this book an average rating.

I was a Lonely Planet snob for a long time, but I've used Rough Guides on my last couple of trips to no disadvantage. All of these books have the same problem in that recommending a few hotels might lead one to believe there aren't a million others just like it close by. CAUTION: The map of Siem Reap puts the Shadow of Angkor hotel (recommended) on the wrong block in this edition (2011). I believe it's located 1 block northeast of where the map puts it.
