Roy Reyland (Author), Steve Perryman (Foreword), Terry Venables (Preface) & 0 more. Roy Reyland is the longest serving member of backroom staff to have ever worked at Tottenham Hotspur. For 29 seasons Roy served the club he loved, working firstly as a groundsman before becoming first team kit manager to generations of Spurs legends. The book is a brief history of Spurs History while Roy was employed there, with some chat regarding the Spurs Kit during this period. I bought it second hand for one penny and I am not happy.

This insightful and often hilarious romp charts the dramatic ups and downs of Tottenham Hotspur, as seen through the eyes of one of its most unlikely heroes: Roy Reyland, the local kit man who served the club for almost 30 years. From inside the dressing room and on the bench, Roy has witnessed the agony and the ecstasy of three decades of seasons at Tottenham Hotspur. He looked after Spurs' famous lilywhite shirts for an incredible 1,397 matches, home and away, including 12 dramatic cup finals. Working under 17 managers—from Keith Burkinshaw to Martin Jol—he visited Wembley more times than many of the brightest stars of the Premiership. And, of course, he worked closely with some of White Hart Lane's greatest ever players—from Ardiles and Gazza to Klinsmann and Ginola. As the club's unofficial agony aunt, Roy has seen the tears and the triumphs, the dressing-room pranks, and has a unique insight into the inner workings of the legendary Premiership side. He has seen it all, and his story is one of total devotion to the club.

I found this book rather dull with way too many errors. One part I found rather condescending if you are a Spurs fan was his reference to the 1981 F.A. Cup final when he said "what most people tend to forget is that the final was over two legs." It wasn't over two legs, no F.A. Cup final ever is. It went into a replay because the first match was drawn and any football fan, not least of all Spurs fans would remember that. There were numerous other errors on information regarding Spurs legends as well a spelling mistakes with their names. Quite frankly I found it difficult to believe this was written by a man who claims to be a life long Tottenham fan. There is nothing in this book that any true Tottenham fan does not already know. I am surprised it even got published.

This book gives a fascinating insight of one man's journey from a jack the lad on the street to a humble first step into a long established career in the background of Tottenham Hotspur. Details many escapades and intricacies of life at the Lane from a perspective that pretty well all fans wouldn't be aware of. A must read if you love the club. I'd also say a must read for non-supporters too, but that may be a little un-realistic.

If you are new to Spurs, this entertaining book will brief you on players, owners, and managers of old. Good easy read.

Roy opens the doors to White Hart Lane and takes us on a magical club tour that simply isn't available to us mere mortals. An interesting read to any Spurs fan, a compelling read for any Spurs fan born around the 60's or simply a great read for anyone with a love for the beautiful game.

A great inside to Football as it was in the good old days ( not so long ago), the fine line between success and failure and the dreams of every boy.

A great read that takes any Spurs fans back to the day, with many stories about recent and past spurs heros on and off the pitch. Roy had an amazing job at White Heart Lane, and this book captures many of the great stories with household name players and administrators that even non Spurs fans wil recognize. Recommend !!

Instead of the book I was expecting and the book I ordered from Amazon, I got a book with this cover on it but the actual book was a book about Rome. Not the book I ordered.
