This work is dedicated with heartfelt respect and friendship to my compatriots, the men and women of the 97th Military Airlift Squadron and the 446th Military Airlift Wing at McChord AFB, Washington-my military home for the past sixteen years. It is also dedicated to my fellow Reservists and Guardsmen from all branches of the service who, like me, instantly put civilian lives and careers on hold in the fall of 1990 to serve in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm.
John J. Nance (born July 5, 1946) is an American pilot, attorney, aviation and healthcare safety analyst, and author. He was born in Dallas, Texas. Nance grew up in Dallas, where he graduated from the St. Mark's School of Texas. He earned Bachelor of Arts and Juris Doctor degrees from Southern Methodist University and Dedman School of Law. Nance served in the United States Air Force as a pilot during the Vietnam War and in Operation Desert Storm in Iraq.
America’s worst nightmare has come true-and now US forces must scramble to put together a plan to destroy the weapon of mass destruction. When the operation goes awry in Saudi Arabia, Col. Will Westerman commandeers a C-141 transport to get the Special Forces team into Iraq.
The first book by John J Nance that I had the pleasure of reading was Final Approach. John J Nance writes another thriller. A gripping story of a man's effort to capture and destroy a deadly virus that he developed under control of a dictator in Iraq. It was an air accident investigation and I enjoyed it. In this book the writing was equally good but the subject was air warfare and I did not enjoy the book as much. The heroic Iraqi is aided by two US Air Force officers and an inventive plan to get and destroy the unwanted virus before it is released upon the world.
