This was the first book that started me on the road to involved reading again. It was very good. Emilie Richards is an exceptional writer! Her stories grab you in the very beginning, and hold-on to your interest. She combines intrigue with romance and mystery. Definitely NOT the run-of-the-mill "smut" paperback :) Every one of her Shenandoah Album series carried me along tenaciously. I'm sorry there are only 5 novels in that series. I wished she would have branched out and created more in depth stories surrounding other characters, as they appeared in the series. But this book is DEFINITELY worth reading. Everyone to whom I loaned this book, is now an avid Emilie fan, and can't wait to sink their teeth into her succeeding books. Enjoy!

First in the Shenandoah Album stories, it revolves around three generations of women: Helen, crotchety quilter and hoarder, Nancy, the social climber, and Tessa, griever of the loss of her 5-year-old daughter.

When Helen needs help, her daughter (Nancy) and granddaughter (Tessa) move in with her, determined to set things right, which includes moving Helen out of the messy house and cleaning it up in order to sell it. Those goals gradually change when Tessa discovers all manner of secrets in the house, including beautiful quilts made by Helen, some deemed "rejects," others beautiful works of art that Helen doesn't really recognize.

Each of these women come to learn about themselves and their relatives, but mostly about their intertwining relationships with one another and their respective spouses: Helen's died on the Arizona after getting her pregnant. Nancy seems to have lost touch, though she still loves her successful husband from a prominent Richmond family. Tessa's grief places her at odds with her attorney husband, who also suffers the loss of their daughter, but also his marriage to Tessa. Will they ultimately divorce, as she seems to want to do? Or does she?

An affecting, beautifully written tale of redemption and forgiveness amidst a greater awareness of family togetherness.

I have read many of Emilie Richards books and even met her once at the Houston Quilt Show. Very interesting lady that writes books over a great field of interest but her Shenandoah series I found particularly appealing because of my quilting hobby. Even though she does not dwell on the quilting aspect of the book she does weave it into the story. It is a story of family values and unity with the rediscovery and appreciation in the relationships between multigenerational women and their secretes and solutions. Through the interchange the lead character, Tessa is learning insights into her own marriage and the tragedy that is ripping it apart. Very enjoyable for some light reading. Of course getting it from 1-Click on Amazon the reading fun begins immediately.

If you've ever wanted to know what a real family is like, this book gives the reader an emotional taste of just that....but, more than that, it also gives a quilter, roots.

I have found some of my quilting roots in this book...being a quilter for about 10 years now, I didn't have a clue as to why quilting has been so important in my life...with reading Emilie's "Wedding Ring" part of that mystery has been answered.

I fell in love with the story, the characters and the heart of Wedding Ring. Never thinking myself as a good enough quilter to accomplish the actual pattern of a double wedding ring...I have that desire and determination now..and for that I thank the fictional characters and the author.

If you're a quilter, if you're an avid reader...you will enjoy/devour this series...I've just started...don't wait as long as I did to find out about the part of you that just might be missing....I have.

I am a big fan of Emilie Richards and have read so many of her books. She is a talented author who understands people...no one is all good or all bad. I like how well she researches also. Emilie has a book coming out later this month called The Swallow's Nest. I know it will be a great read. Her books stay in your head.

I really loved this book. It was my first one I hav read by Emilie. I was a bit reluctant to start it because it was very long. But I must say that it never felt long. The story is well written, the characters felt very real, and the situations were easy to imagine. I tend to like relationship books generally, and this one was very, very good. It pulled me in from the very first, and I loved reading it.

There is so much pain and misunderstandings in the lives of the 3 generations of women living under the same roof for the first time in a long time. Seeing the growth in all of their lives and the want to get help when needed left me feeling good when I finished the book. I have lost an adult son and 9 year old grandson in a car accident. The situation was different, an elderly person feel asleep driving, but the grief and anger felt like it was something the author was acquainted with. Sometimes you realize you need help but the things you try aren't the right fit. I am glad the character didn't give up.
