Book 1 of 9 in the Zion Covenant Series. Bodie Thoene and her husband Brock are excellent writers leaving you in anticipation to continue reading the story. Yet apprehensive to the point where you have to put the book down to gather your thoughts and heart rate to be able to move on. I have read their Zion Cronicle Series and even though I read them before starting to read the Zion Covenant Series. It has opened my eyes and mind thoughts giving World War 2 and pre years of what it was really like. I have developed a "relationship" with the main characters in these books.

Brock Thoene, Bodie Thoene. She had not slept since Leah and Shimon had left two hours before. She had simply sat in the gloom and replayed the events of the last week over and over again in her mind. Now her personal problems. seemed insignificant. Maybe Murphy was right about Vienna and his warning about Austria’s future, after all. She reached for the phone, hoping that it would be Murphy on the other end of the line; then she would tell him- Hello, Murphy? she asked eagerly, surprised that his name had come so easily to her lips

A story filled with engaging characters (including some well known people) from several different countries, depicting a time in history involving the entire world. Upon the latest reading, I stopped to "google" some of the characters and events. The accuracy speaks highly of the Thoene"s commitment to research. The cover pictures sometimes imply a romance type or appealing to one gender over another. This book series is enjoyable for ANY age/gender/belief reader. Edge-of-your-seat reading will not disappoint.

I enjoyed this novel. The main character was someone you knew well after a few chapters, and I found myself rooting for her, her friends and her love interests. Her adventures were exciting enough, and her love story was affecting. Once I began to care about the characters, I could easily ignore the problems with this book. I spent several late evenings reading this.

The problems are not too terrible. The author often tells the reader details that should be revealed through the story. The prose is slightly awkward throughout. There is a lot of coincidence in the plot. Some of the coincidences are so improbable that they began to annoy me.

There is also a good deal of historical detail in the story, which I enjoyed. The action unfolds in Berlin, Vienna, and Prague- in real places which are well described. Now I feel like seeing those places for myself. I feel as if I know them intimately.

This is the first book in a series: The Zion Covenant. I will read the next book in the series, because I am hooked. I want to know what happens to everyone!

I enjoyed this book the first time I read it and years later it has touched my heart again. This is a treasured and talented gift that the authors have shared with their readers. You find yourself feeling as if you know the characters and what they are going through with. I have a hard time putting my Kindle down when reading any books written by these excellent authors. God has touched their lives with talent s beyond measure.
May God bless you with many more exciting treasures to touch our hearts. I will enjoy rereading and purchasing the ones I don't have yet.

I purchased the Thoene Zion Covenant books in hard copy over 20 years ago, and have read them all. I thought it would be great to read them again on my Kindle. I've ordered all of the series, with the exception of "London Refrain". That one doesn't seem to be available in the Kindle version.

I've now read the first four books, and can't wait to finish the rest. I've always been interested in the history of World War II, perhaps because I was born at the beginning of it. These books bring to life what it must have been like at that time. I am impressed with the detail of the history, as well as the development of the characters. I would recommend this series to anyone who enjoys historical fiction.

I managed to read the first book. It is a very good read. A contrast of horror at the evil that exists in the hearts of some and of love that will always triumph.
I read all books in this series because it is important to be informed of our history and the reality of truth. It happened in my lifetime. God Bless those who protect. I do so much LOVE the work of the authors.

Made-with-Love
I am reading this book with three friends, in our book club. We are finding it extremely well written, and fascinating to learn new details about this period of history, in the early years of Hitler's Reich. We are seeing how Hitler's evil policies affect individuals, as we see these events unfold through their eyes and lives...We are also struck by the similarity of that day and our own, when our own leaders are reluctant to destroy ISIS, all though they have already destroyed many in the Middle East, and have sworn to destroy us in their quest for a
world-wide caliphate...Churchill was right and Parliament was wrong in the 1930's, and millions more died because the European countries did not stop Hitler sooner.

Brock and Bodie wrote the best books when they were with Bethany House, in my opinion. All of those series, (which includes this one) were so awesome. Covenant, Chronicles, the series after WW1 (can't remember name), all made me feel like I was right there living it. They are such excellent authors.
