It's my book but the perspective of passing years pushes me to say something about it. It was a stranger in a strange land that had a long history of turmoil but also of beauty. The beauty of beautiful innocence that sometimes evens the playing field. I look back at myself as a visiting stranger that tried to show how people remained human under difficult circumstances. I believe that I accomplished that in the resulting book that was the fruition of that visit over thirty years ago. Sometimes it is the least that one can do if there is even the slightest belief in one's mind that human beings are deserving of a possible future. Eli Reed

Too man pictures and not enough content. I expected far more than a collection of photographs that tell me nothing about what is going on in the pictures.
