Indeed, by drawing a dividing-line across Greek history at the end of the eighth century B c- a procedure which the archaeological findings might seem to justify - it is possible to admit the earliest extant written literature of Greece, the Homeric poems and the works ascribed to Hesiod, as contemporary testimony for the preceding age, and to draw on Late Geometric art.

A comprehensive archaeological and interpretive survey of the dark ag.a study in which students of these formative centuries in Greek history will have an important handbook as well as find challenging ideas (American Journal of Archaeology). The book is itself somewhat dated, hailing from the early 70s, and an introductory essay by Snodgrass works hard to bring it into the 2000s (while finding his basic premises largely intact). Notice also that this book is not for the archaeologically faint of heart. The walk through the ceramic sequence requires dedication on part of the reader; except it seems to me well worth the effort.

Very good, thank you

La obra es uno de los estudios más importantes relativos a la Grecia de los Siglos Oscuros, a pesar de haber sido publicado por primera vez en 1971. Libro muy bien documentado, excelente manual para el acercamiento a los Siglos Oscuros de Grecia.
