This a great book on the doctrine and administration of the church. Notice, Paul AWAYS indicates a plurality of leadership! Only one letter in all the New Testament names an individual leader of a congregation: Third John 9-11.

This a great book on the doctrine and administration of the church. A easy to ready book on the subject. A "pastor" who claims and stands on "pastoral leadership" is in the spirit of Diotrephes. Note that John often relates to the "spirit" of a thing or person. Jesus is declared to be THE HEAD of the Chruch. Only the church as a unit in the Spirit and prayerfully committed to God's Word daily can know how Jesus is leading a congregation.

Church planting takes a lot of effort The doctrine and theology in this book are spot on. But as it was written in the sixties, much of the methods and practices are very nearly or entirely outdated.

Church planting takes a lot of effort. Dr. Jackson offers instruction for those interested in the establishment and administration of a local church. The doctrine and theology in this book are spot on.

Special Administration of the Holy Se. John Paul II issues Sacramentorum sanctitatis tutela "by which are promulgated Norms concerning the more grave delicts reserved to the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.

Special Administration of the Holy See. Pontifical Commission for the Cultural Heritage of the Church. It, again, reaffirms the CDF's responsibilities, expressing that it was necessary to define more precisely both "the more grave delicts whether against morals or committed in the celebration of the sacraments" for which the competence of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith remains exclusive, and also the special procedural norms "for declaring or imposing canonical sanctions.

The Apostle Paul sacrificed himself in his endeavors to build up the Church, not Christendom. It is from the New Testament primarily, if not really exclusively, that the real meaning and idea of the Church is derived. He speaks of his greatest sin as consisting in persecuting the Church of God (1 Co. 5:9). The supreme business of God in this age is the gathering of the Church. Some day it will be complete (Ep. :12), and then the age will have served its purpose. The Christian Church is a New Testament institution, beginning with Pentecost, and ending, probably, with the rapture. Two words are of special importance in this connection

This book presents things to keep in mind when starting a church. It is a guideline and even states that you need to modify according to what works for you. It also is important that it gives the Authority of the scriptures in many of the things he brings up and some are simple common sense statements. He is more of a greekite than a Bible Believer but good stuff.

Is it not strange that the Apostle Paul when writing to the churches does not ever address directly any pastor, but specifically writes "to the church"!?! . One letter, that to the Philippians, he writes, "Paul and Timothy, bond-servants of Christ Jesus, to all the saints in Christ Jesus who are in Philippi, including the overseers and deacons: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ." (Phil. 1:1-2)

Today, if one who reads and adopts Mr. Jackson's teaching and philosophy concerning pastoral leadership and congregational submission, and the Apostle Paul sends a letter to a church without asking or recognising the pastor, the one supposedly in authority of that church would have a conniption fit: "What! Paul is going directly to MY congregation with out first going throught ME! How dare he!"

Folks, do you study. No where in the New Testament is one individual THE leader of a congregation or is that congregation taught to be in total submission to one individual. It just is not there! Notice, Paul AWAYS indicates a plurality of leadership! Only one letter in all the New Testament names an individual leader of a congregation: Third John 9-11. A "pastor" who claims and stands on "pastoral leadership" is in the spirit of Diotrephes. (Note that John often relates to the "spirit" of a thing or person.)

Jesus is declared to be THE HEAD of the Chruch. Only the church as a unit in the Spirit and prayerfully committed to God's Word daily can know how Jesus is leading a congregation. Study God's Word. Obey God's Word. And beware, as the Apostle warns in Acts 20:17-36. Second Corinthians address this subjegation to false pastors as well.
