A Half-baked Life book. He travels the country on his trusty Rudge bicycle, encountering who he is convinced are famous faces in the most unusual locations: General Montgomery at the barber shop, Dame Kiri Te Kanawa being fired from a stationer's and President Kenneth Kaunda in a stamp shop in Stourbridge. For me, this has to be one of the best books I have ever read. The prose style reflects the character's utter eclecticism in Claude Jenks is a well-read autodidact, with a seemingly insatiable appetite for reading.
