When I found out I had PCOS I was going crazy with which book I should get to tell me EVERYTHING I need to know about PCOS and this book did it for me. It literally tells you everything you need to know to improve your living style, from eatting, working out, improving chances of having a child and how, list of what to buy from the market, just so much. I was told to take pills to help my PCOS but the tought of taking pills everyday made me so sad so I never even touched the pills and just did what the book said and........things have improved so much for me that Im hopeful that I will have no problem having a child. I will start trying this Sept. :)

This cookbook is very helpful. I like the information but it was lacking recipes. The information was good for my condition though and I appreciate that.

Most of the things I read in this book I already new. It is also very repetitive. I am still reading it, buy I am following my own healthy style.

I have read nearly every PCOS book out there. This is the best one by far. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to know more about the illness and how to manage it for a lifetime.

I have pcos and this book told me things that i didn't know about the pcos. I have not really went by the diet yet. But I did like learning more about what I have So if you have pcos I would say you need to read this book.

Dangerous
I had high hopes for this after reading the reviews. I ended up quite disappointed. The same info is repeated over and over "low GI, lose weight, blah, blah, blah" "insulin resistance, blah, blah, blah". However, the book never really gives good examples of low GI eating. Eating a salad with corn is NOT low GI. Instead of eating white rice, the book recommends rice or egg noodles! Ridiculous! What do you think rice noodles are made of?

The book also focuses on whole grains. Just because something is "whole wheat" doesn't mean its good for you. This is not my opinion, its fact. This made me doubt the accuracy of this book. According to the Table of GI values in the back of the book, coconut macaroons are low on the GI.

So go ahead, buy this book and eat all the coconut macaroons, rice noodles, and corn you like. Let us know what happens to your waistline.

This book teaches and empowers:
I learned what PCOS is and how it affects the body.
I learned how insulin plays a big part in those effects. (You have the control)
I learned how picking better choices can regulate the body's reaction and therefore improve PCOS symptoms. (Small but powerful changes)
I learned that not all carbs are created equal.
I learned that my body and brain thrives when I use the principles in this book.
I lost 20 lbs eating foods that are "low" on the GI scale (+ walking regularly). I never starved or felt hungry, no calories were counted (but they also weren't over consumed).

There are some reviews here that, seems to me, only displays the comprehension level of the reviewers and not the intelligence of the book - one in particular that said macaroons are NOT low GI. Dear reader: you missed the point and the explaination behind The glycemic index. You are correct in that you can't base your whole diet around desserts, but IF you are going to have dessert, pick one that wont spike your insulin so quickly. Macaroons are not a "low calorie" food, but YES they are LOW GI (enjoy on occasion). If you read from start to finish, it is clearly explained how and why this works in the body. You must also use your judgement to not only consume desserts.
Long story short - I Highly recommended book.

The information is very basic, it's information you can easily find online. I don't feel like I am any better educated about PCOS after reading this book. It was also very dry. If you're more interested in the low GI aspect, I'd recommend just getting a low GI cookbook with fun pictures-- you know, something to get you motivated! This book just didn't do it for me.
