It's been a while since I've felt this way It's been a while since I've felt You got this way about you, you got this way about you You got this sway about you You make me melt You make me melt. Those eyes are greener than the trees That give me oxygen to breathe Yet leave me breathless (You leave me breathless) You make me feel a way inside, that reminds me of the tide Swept away. My blood is pumping heart is thumping Is this all a dream? Our bodies bumping hips are jumping Is this all a dream?

Sydney Welsh is a self-made millionaire. She is successful, confident, and seems to have the world at her feet but something is missing. Her life is a catastrophic mess and the reality of her situation sets in when she arrives home from a business trip and finds her lover in bed with a female executive from her company. She realizes that the only woman she has ever loved was Rachel Ashburn and that ended thirteen years ago when Rachel made a choice, a life-changing choice that did not include Sydney. Sydney knew she could compete with another woman, or even a man for Rachel’s love, but how can anyone compete with God. Now with more money than she knows what to do with, she puts an elaborate plan in motion to bring Rachel back into her life. She tells herself that she is doing it for revenge, and hiring business wiz-kid Caitlyn—Rachel’s nineteen-year-old daughter for an internship with her company is a key part of that plan. She learns that it’s okay to make plans as long as you don’t plan the outcome and when an embezzler is suspected inside her company, she makes several miscalculations and unknowingly puts Rachel and Caitlyn’s lives in danger. As with all best laid plans, things can go wrong and once again, Sydney finds herself falling head over heels in love with Rachel, the only woman who had the power to leave her breathless.

The premise of a teacher/student relationship always sounds a bit taudry. This, wasn't. This was a YOUNG first year teacher, and a senior student. Add to that the setting of Great Britain, where pubs and clubs aren't just for the over 21 crowd, and you can understand how these 2 characters hooked up. And for the most part, the two women spend most of the story trying to fight their feelings, but of course, in these type of stories, that's never easy. Twists and turns in the plot seem to complicate things along the way, but of course, these characters will be together.

Sometimes a book of fiction tells a story that so closely mirrors the parts of real life that you have to stop for a moment so you can remember it is fiction. The author has such a grasp of the psyche of her characters that she brings them to life in a way that allows the reader to grow attached. What an incredible gifted writer. Buy this book and enjoy. I did and will continue to read anything she writes.

Blackstalker
The book hooks you early, and the characters, including the secondary characters, are well-developed. Part love story, part whodunit, part revenge-gone wrong, it never gets boring. The ending left a little to be desired - Spoiler Alert! - with Caitlin being gay; and the abusive husband was not believable, nor was it believable that she had stayed with him AND had 2 such gifted, happy, well-adjusted kids out of it. Bottom line, it was hard to put down, as good books are, and I like the writer‘s style.Go for it!

Sydney's plot to get back together with Rachel strikes me as not underhanded, but rather the kind of thing that someone pining for a lost love would want to do. She intends no harm to Rachel, just wants to put herself back in her life in a way that won't be stalker-ish or off-putting and will seem natural. Using the daughter is natural and seems like an obvious entry into the mother's company. The fact that no harm is intended or comes to the daughter, Caitlyn, shows that Sydney's motives are benign all through the story.

Unfortunately, bad guys within Sydney's company and in Sydney's trust escalate and take advantage of Sydney's scheming to upset her plan to their own advantage.

Fortunately, Sydney is quick and bright enough to catch on and foil the bad guys' plans and live happily ever after. Remember that, although Sydney is portrayed as scheming and plotting to get back together with Rachel, Rachel's will and desires are never compromised, Rachel has the ability to say "no" at any time and Sydney offers her no harm nor foul.

The intricate plot is fascinating and enjoyable. But what makes the book is the relationship that develops between Sydney and Rachel's daughter, Caitlyn. There is real love there, and by the end of the book, Sydney is mentoring Caitlyn in a relationship completely seperate from her relationship with Rachel.

Well written, well plotted, likable and believable characters. Five stars.

I just love how this book tell us that true love does not die easily, how it can win and survive to a long separation. The story is easy to read, the characters are likeable... in short, I recommend it!!
