Only 1 left in stock (more on the way). Gemma Townley, author of Learning Curves and Little White Lies spins a wonderful and entertaining tale of true love and the obstacles (one is Kate herself) to finding it. Her characters are interesting, fun and richly drawn. The plot is unique and fast-paced.

A novel is a relatively long work of narrative fiction, normally written in prose form, and which is typically published as a book. The present English word for a long work of prose fiction derives from the Italian novella for "new", "news", or "short story of something new", itself from the Latin novella, a singular noun use of the neuter plural of novellus, diminutive of novus, meaning "new"

When in Rome is a detective novel by Ngaio Marsh; it is the twenty-sixth novel to feature Roderick Alleyn, and was first published in 1970. The novel takes place in Rome, and concerns a number of murders among a group of tourists visiting the city; much of the action takes place in the "Basilica di San Tommaso", which bears some resemblance to the Basilica of San Clemente, which the author visited 'when in Rome' on an Italian holiday in Summer 1968.

From Publishers Weekly. In Townsley's latest bouncy novel, British 20-something Jennifer Bell navigates corporate and family intrigue with a mix of pluck and naïveté. Jen's divorced parents, Harriet and George, are at political and personal odds: George heads a management consultancy firm, Bell Consulting, and Harriet runs a leftish environmental firm, Green Futures, where Jen is a recent hire. After a 15-year estrangement from her father, Jen surreptitiously re-enters his sphere at her mother's urging.

Usually, when I tell people what I do, I leave it at that, because then it sounds like I could be working with literary geniuses and brilliant novels. But you may as well know the truth.

When in Rome, do as Audrey Hepburn would do. Failing that, run off with your ex-boyfriend, carry suspicious packages through customs, and lie to the person who loves you. . . .Georgie Beauchamp is totally happy and in love with her wonderful, dependable boyfriend, David. So why does she always daydream about running into her gorgeous ex-boyfriend Mike? It can’t mean she’s still in love with him—especially since the cad dumped her so horribly. As luck would have it, when Georgie’s daydream actually comes true, she is dressed in unglamorous sweats and carrying a curtain rod down the street, while Mike is driving an expensive sports car and looking better than Brad Pitt at the Oscars. She longs to have the glamorous life Mike can offer—and starts to think that he might want her back in his arms. But when he invites her for a weekend in Rome, Georgie is torn. David has always said he’d take her there for the romantic getaway of a lifetime, but his work keeps him totally tied up. So she must choose: David, all comfort and reliability, or Mike, all flirtation and butterfly-stomachs. The decision isn’t too hard to make, and faster than she can say Vespa, she’s off to Rome with Mike, full of plans to frolic on the Spanish Steps and sip wine in intimate trattorias. But when David shows up unexpectedly, this roman holiday gets a hell of a lot more complicated. . . .

Wow, this book was not at all what I expected. I had hoped for something frivolous and fun, light but enjoyable. But I ended up with a book that made me want to scream. The characters and plot were so predictable that it wasn't long before you knew how the rest of the book would play out.

The main character was so stupid that she couldn't see what was in front of her face. Naivety is one thing, but if the reader can see something that is glaringly obvious but the "heroine" cannot, she becomes an irritation rather than charming.

Rome only appears in a handful of pages, and even then, is merely a backdrop to the cringeworthy plot. If you are looking for a book to get your juices flowing for Rome, or to bring back warm memories of a trip, this is not it.

I enjoy chick-lit and something fun and fluffy to take my mind off everyday problems, but this was just a frustration. It was also such a simple and predictable book it made for a short read. I finished it in a day, and not because I was so into the book that I had to keep reading.

I was wondering for a long time how this book even got published. Then I found out that the author has a rather famous author for a sister...

Roman Holiday is my favorite movie of all times and to find a book to reference it was a dream come true! Its a corky and funny story that will make you keep reading and hoping that Georgie will realize that the man of her dreams has been with her for 2 years. All she has to do is stop trying to live a fantasy life and start living her real one.She does a nunmber of mistakes that cost her a great deal of trouble to her and the man she loves but at the end she realizes who she is and finally understands the the true lesson of the film. Highly recommend this book!4.5 stars

This was the first book by this author that I've read and I thought it was very cute. I was unsure at first because the first few pages made the main character sound very winny, but it picked up and turned out to be a very good and quick read. I've ordered other books by this author after completing this one.

Cute story, very similar to Sophia Kinsella's style of books. A nice light read about a ditzy girl that you hate to love, but are very happy for her when she finds her happily-ever after.

Was a nice read. The plot and characters where the same familiar ones as several other stories, but if it's on a deal there are worse versions out there.

Although this book is not a literary masterpiece, it is a feel-good story. The story may have been a bit predictable but there is a cute and fluffy plot. I finished the book with a smile and feeling better about life.
