Robert Frost (March 26, 1874 – January 29, 1963, San Francisco). Then took the other, as just as fair, And having perhaps the better claim Because it was grassy and wanted wear, Though as for that the passing there Had worn them really about the same, And both that morning equally lay In leaves no step had trodden black. Oh, I kept the first for another day! Yet knowing how way leads on to way I doubted if I should ever come back. I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I, I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference.

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, And sorry I could not travel both. More About This Poem. And be one traveler, long I stood. And looked down one as far as I could. Robert Frost was born in San Francisco, but his family moved to Lawrence, Massachusetts, in 1884 following his father’s death. The move was actually a return, for Frost’s ancestors were originally New Englanders, and Frost became famous for his poetry’s engagement with New England locales

The Road Not Taken" is a narrative poem. It reads naturally or conversationally and begins as a kind of photographic depiction of a quiet moment in woods. It consists of four stanzas of 5 lines each. Thompson also says that when introducing the poem in readings, Frost would say that the speaker was based on his friend Edward Thomas. In Frost's words, Thomas was "a person who, whichever road he went, would be sorry he didn't go the other.

The Kindle version IS NOT the same ISBN as the paperback version. I am finding this to be true for many literature books I needed for school. Some of the other reviewers have also noticed this but I thought I would post again to make sure it is seen again. The Kindle version is a much condensed form of the book so if you are buying it for an assigned reading class, the chances are high you will be missing most of the poems you need!

This is a review of the Kindle version. I love Robert Frost, and this is not a review his poetry. Neither is it a review of the formatting of this book, which is fine. However, while the description of the book in the store says 320 pages, the Kindle edition only contains a handful of poems. If you are looking for a decent Kindle edition, avoid this book.

Ice_One_Guys
I don't know why the description lists "320 pages". I took a chance, based on the description, that the other reviews were for a different version. This Kindle edition has about ten poems, maybe 20 pages of content. Buyer beware.

My uncle gave me this book as a gift, knowing my love for poetry. It was one of the best gifts I received ever. Frost won the Nobel Prize for his work. His poems are very beautiful, very deep. The best ones are in this book, which is very beautiful, enjoyable. I highly recommend it for everyone.

Brakora
One of my favorite poems and authors.

Gaua
Includes narratives " Death Of A Hired Man" and "Mending Wall" which in itself makes this a great book for my library. Also includes the classics, "Stopping By Woods On a Snowy Evening" and "The Pasture"

Faehn
My favorite poem of all time.

Probably one of the best books of poetry written in the twentieth century.
