The night Garrett 'rescued' Demi from the clutches of Rev. Flemming should have ranked as one of the highlights of her life. Unfortunately, it turns out to be no more than a brief reprieve. From that moment, Flemming resolves to claim her as his wife, and her aunt is determined to support him, thus removing the 'threat' to her own daughter's happiness. Demi is in no position to fight either of them, but their determination brings out her rebellious streak and leads her straight into the waiting arms, and bed, of one of England's more notorious rakes, Lord Garrett Wyndham.

Rating: Contains graphic sexual content and mild violence and attempted rape.

I just finished this book and I absolutely loved it! Although the front cover states its an "Erotic Historical Romance" it was not really erotic to my way of thinking. There are only a few sex scenes, none of which are long or very graphic either. Instead it was a true romance in every sense of the word, and a great love story. Originally released in 2005 as "Monday's Child" it has since been reissued "The Rake."

Demi is a young lady who was orphaned and lives with her aunt who's not a kind woman. She is mostly looked down upon and doesn't have any prospects expect for the controlling Reverend who wants her as his wife. Her dragon of an aunt agrees to the marriage to keep Demi from becoming a threat to her cousin who wants Garrett, who is rich and titled, for herself. Ultimately however, their scheming ways push Demi straight into Garrett's loving arms...

This story grabbed my attention during the first few pages and it never slipped. At around 180 pages, its a quick read which I finished within a few hours. I literally couldn't put it down and I only wish it had been longer. I completely loved both Garrett and Demi and thought they were perfect for each other. Overall it was a welcome surprise, wonderfully written, and well deserving of this five star review =)

4 1/2 Stars.

I'm a real fan of this author (aka Kaitlyn O'Connor) and thought I'd give her historical romances a try. Very glad I did. The female lead of this story is great. Like other upperclass and underage women of the Regency era, she is very dependent on her guardian for her livelihood both present and future. Despite this she does show her own spunkiness and is not clueless. Usually these types of books are bodice rippers, but I call this one breech ripper : ) as the heroine does initiate the bedroom scenes. The story was really well crafted and departed from the usual formula - the hero still had to go through his paces even after rescuing his woman and I like that!

*********don't read further if you don't want to encounter a spoiler***************

The only reason why I don't give this 5 stars is that there is the typical pregnancy which I get tired of reading about.

It lovely book make u think u are in the Victorian age and people put more value to social than the person but in the end tire love win no matter the social status

I read this rather quickly which attests to how good it was but I was also disappointed that it didn't last longer. This is no more erotic than most romances I have read so I would consider it more romantica than erotica. It was very enjoyable and I am disappointed that there are not more books out there by this author as I would like to read more from her.
