Nice book. Friendly and relaxed writing style. Great ideas for your garden. I particularly like her recommendations for how to get your landscaping designed on your own without hiring a professional. Very practical ideas. I recently loaned this book to some friends with an ugly, wasted back yard. They had been stuck for years because they couldn't afford a landscape designer and they just didn't know what to do with their yard. Two weeks later I was at their house and they were on their way implementing ideas from this book. Now they are "unstuck" and working on beautifying their yard.

I am fortunate enough to know the gardener, who has written two other books over the past decade as well as the illustrator who is my children's pediatrcian. All my prejudices aside, I have read it all cover to cover more than once, used it to help start projects in my new home and have bought five as gifts, Perfect to pry you out of your chair and put your hands in the dirt!

I usually have trouble incorporating garden ideas from books into my actual garden, but this book made it easy for me. I especially liked the ideas for using bulbs.

I strongly wish that I had found this book BEFORE i created my garden at home! Not just some suggestions for what to grow, but also building life-time gardens, vegetable, herb, and flower.

This is one of my go to books at the beginning of gardening season. (It's especially great for winter time garden dreaming!)Her method for making or expanding a bed is the best one I've used. She gives pointers for both experienced and inexperienced gardeners and her approach is systematic, much like following a recipe. Great for gardeners of all levels but especially nice for newer gardeners.

I bought this book in a secondhand store. My sister wanted a copy, which I was able to order through Amazon. She is a Master Gardener and said it's one of the best gardening books she's seen. Clear, simple, and practical instructions. The one I received had been a library book. It's in great shape, and better than the one I bought secondhand, since the library jacket is still on it.

I bought this book as a gift for a new gardener and then kept borrowing it back from her. I've got Master Gardener certification, but still find lots of good information here. It's definitely worth the shelf space in my own library.

I have ordered and read it seems like a million garden books over the years. This is one of the few that I thought was easy to follow while giving wonderful tips on how to plant YOUR best garden. The novice as well as the pro can learn a lot from her insights and suggestions. I keep it by my bedside for reference and also for just an enjoyable read. It is a keeper.
