Moving House We bought this for my son 3 months before he was 3 (and . months before we moved).

Series: First experiences. It was a brilliant way to introduce our coming move. He loved the story and the pictures and was completely familiar with the story by the time we started our packing and moving.

I recently purchased several books on the subject of moving for my 3-yr-old son. This is the only one I kept. We are moving from one home to another in the same town. This story talks about putting all of your things in boxes, meeting new neighbors and getting a new room. It is very positive and assumes the experience will be positive in the eyes of the child. I really like that. The other books I got assumed the child would be, angry, upset, scared, or sad about moving. I feel like there is no reason to plant those seeds of negativity. My son has no prior history of moving and therefore no reason to have any negative emotion associated with moving. I do want to prepare him for the process and this book is perfect for us. The illustrations are also really wonderful.

Bought this to help my little one prepare for his first PCS move and this isn't a good fit for that. This story is better suited for a more local move or non military family. Aside from that, nothing in this story really hooks little listeners.

I read this to my son (almost 3 years old) the night it came in the mail, and he really enjoyed it. It wasn't boring and made the idea of moving more fun (a plus for the parents doing the reading). We are moving soon far from many friends and I needed something to ease the process. I loved that the story hit upon a normal childhood fear that one must leave or will lose a toy during the moving process. It has many good colorful pictures. I would say its good for any kid up to age 8 maybe - first or second grade. Will be keeping this one for awhile even after we move as it is a good reminder that friends are wherever we want to find them - never know where we will find our next friend :)

This book was very cute. While reading it to my kids my husband actually asked if I was making it up because of how it fit our process of moving and all the things we were talking about already with them. It was very positive and gave us topics on each page to stop and discuss to try to relate to our own life. If you are moving and have little children I highly recommend this book.

I really liked this book. My 3 year old daughter can understand most of it when I read it to her. She can't read it herself. We'll still be able to read it for a long time, especially when she starts school the school story will be great. I love the illustrations in each story. It has more of an fashioned feel with the pictures, especially in the Going to the Doctor Story.

We are preparing to move and got this book for my 3 year. It goes through most of the steps of moving that directly affect young children and spin them in a positive light. My son enjoys reading this book and finding the duck on each page. Overall this is a great book for young children who are getting ready to move for the first time.

Makes the movers seem scary...not great to insert fear unnecessarily into an already overwhelming experience
