During World War II, he served in the Army as a sergeant in a combat engineer battalion in the Pacific. degree from Oberlin College. He worked as a copy boy and then a reporter at The New York Sun and The Long Island Daily Press. He is the creator of the Encyclopedia Brown series. His first book, Encyclopedia Brown, Boy Detective, was published in 1963. During his lifetime, he wrote more than 80 books. In 1976, he won an Edgar Award from the Mystery Writers of America for the Encyclopedia Brown series. He died from gastric lymphoma on July 11, 2012 at the age of 87. Sobol was the author of the highly acclaimed Encyclopedia Brown series and many other books. Arrived on time - Sobol writes for students who are into treasure maps and super sleuthing! As a teacher of students in the 9- 12 range I always recommend smaller chapter books like Sobol - great series!

Encyclopedia Brown does it again! This book was just as entertaining as the others! I originally bought this book for my nephew (10 years) and I ended up reading most of it with him! Needless to say, he loved it and so did I! He now wants to read more about Encyclopedia Brown and I can't wait to buy them for him!

i like this book alot it has taught me a lot about solving cases. i enjoy this book because i want to be a detective just like him one day.
