THE YEAR MY PARENTS RUINED MY LIFE, Martha Freeman. I dreamed about it all the time. Like about how I would get a fan club, and they would scream and faint and follow me around.

Martha's book, "The Year My Parents Ruined My Life," is very loosely based on this move and in particular how it affected her oldest daughter, Sylvie. Her other two children, Rosa and Ethan, are also reflected in the characters in the book. When she was a kindergartner, Rosa was a little like Dani, the "dancing ballerina snowflake princess," and Ethan, at age 2, was a lot like the toddler next door, "Nicky Red Suit. Martha’s latest book is ZAP!, a technothriller starring a gritty and offbeat 11-year-old hero named Luis.

When Molly's grandmother remarries the wacky and unworldly Jimmy Barkenfelt, she overhears a phone conversation implicating Jimmy in dangerous activities and strives to prove to her grandmother that she married the wrong man, in a humorous and chaotic novel full of misunderstandings and presumptions.

Kate Sommers had lived in Isla Nada, California all her life. Then one day her father who worked at a lawn mower factory went out of business, and told his family that he got a job selling snow shovels in Belltoonia, Pennsylvania. Kate through a fit because she loved every part of Isla Nada and never wanted to leave. She even had her whole 6th grade year planned out she was even president of her class. Kate tried everything to make her parents let her stay, but they didn't understand. So Kate, Molly, and her boyfriend Josh made a plan called Operation Defrost, it would go like this, Kate would go back to Belltoonia and earn enough money to fly back to California and live with Molly for awhile. Kate went to Belltoonia and raised enough money for the air fair back to California. When Kate got to California she relized everything had changed, and she was suppose to live in Belltoonia after all!

I'm writing a book review on the book The Year My Parents Ruined My Life. It starts out with a girl named Kate. She livad in a toww called Islanata,California. Kate lived with her mom, her dad, and her little sister. Kate loved to hang out on the beach with her friends. She also took a liking to collecting seashells.
One day she found out that her family was moving to a town called Belletuna, Penyslvania. She was so furios. She had to leave all her friends and most of all she had to leave her surfer boy friend Josh she was so mad.
Whan she got to Belletuna it wa so cold she had to were tons of layers of close and she didnt like anyone in the town. Her school was mean to her and they always made fun of her. Finally she got tired of the town and went all the way to Califonia by herself.
All in all she had to come home and she finally came home and she made some friends.

The Year My Parents ruined My Life is the best book ever. It is about a girl named Kate Summers who lives in sunny California. Her life is perfect with a boyfriend that cared about her and a best friend. Thenshe hears that she is going to move to Belletoona, Pennsylvania. When she moves her life is horrible! She finally had enough and escapes from Pennsylvania she finds out things has changed back in California, too. When she goes back to Belletoona she realizes it is not half bad. She evev finds out she has a secret I really liked this book because it is about a teenager's life and how you can make things that you think are terrible actually turn out pretty well! I think you should definitely buy this book if you like adventures and happy endings. I hope you read this book and see how good it really is!:)

Wow! The Year my Parents Ruined my Life was both emotional and adventurous. It had BIG emotional parts such as when Kate, the "star" of the book, cried over and over about moving from her home state, California, to a wet, cold Pennslyvania. I esecially liked how the author included the girl's feelings. A book isn't interesting if you don't know what the characers are thinking. This book is unlike any other. I keeps you on the edge of your seat! Here's a hint: read a chapter a night to keep you on your toes. Don't read all the interesting parts ar once! As for the adventurous part, Kate is constantly moving around and getting in trouble (whether it's her fault or not)! Overall, it was a neat book!

The book was about a girl named Kate whose life was perfect in CA. Her parents make her move to snowy Belletoona, PA. She thinks her life is horrible there. All she wants to do is get back to her old life is CA. I really liked the book. One of my favorite parts was when she was baby-sitting her new neighbor Red-Suit, and all the exciting and frightening things that they go through. One of the parts that I didn't like so much is the Dancing ballerina snowflake princess. I thought that that was a little stupid. I thought that kids could relate to it but, I thought that the topic was a little boring. All in all I think that the book was good.

I read this book about 3 weeks ago, and decided to do a book report on it. When I was reading the book it really made me feel happy inside. I cried a lot when I read it, but I guess that just shows how good it really was. It also made me think a lot about how I took things in life.
The Year My parents Ruined My Life is about a 11-12 year old girl who had just left her whole life and years to come plans in Southern California when her family moved to Northern Pennsilvania, where all it ever does is snow. As you read farther in the book it really makes you think about a lot of things.
