What are Striking and Fielding Games. Players on the batting team strike an object and attempt to run between two points before the fielding team can recuperate the object. The teams exchange roles after a certain amount of hits or after a certain amount of players have been retired from the game. Tactical problems related to striking and fielding games include striking the object to an open space, reducing space on defence, scoring points and retiring players from the game. Examples of striking and fielding games include baseball, cricket, softball and kickball.

Strike is a series of video games created by Mike Posehn, John Patrick Manley and Tony Barnes released between 1991 and 1997 by Electronic Arts for a number of video game systems. The games are multi-directional shooters viewed from an overhead or top-down perspective. The first three games in the series were 2D and used isometric sprites to give the illusion of 3D depth since real-time 3D polygon rendering wasn't possible at the time.

Sir John Fielding and his retinue are good-hearted, but hard-edged. They deploy politesse as necessary, but retain their independence of mind. The evince intelligence and fundamental worth - refreshing antidotes to the modern degeneracy. There is an inherent danger in taking a historical figure and using that person in a fictional setting. Sir John Fielding was founder of the Bow Street Runners, the precursors to modern policemen and Bruce Alexander makes a valiant effort to turn him into the hero of this mystery. The details to the criminal investigation with the limitations of the forensics ring true and the characters are engaging.

More than a simple compendium of striking and fielding games, this practical book for teachers aims to provide children of all abilities at Key Stages 2 and 3 with incentive to understand, improve and succeed. Units focus on game-related practices (many of them competitive) and particular categories of game. Each offers developmental physical activity with an emphasis on the "small-sided", as well as a wide range of "bigger" games. Advice is given throughout on variable team-size, equipment and areas of play, to suit different group needs.
