Hurts of Childhood Series. The overall theme of Something Must Be Wrong with Me is sexual abuse and the process of going through something like that. When I read Something Must Be Wrong with Me, I was a little disturbed at first and I felt very bad for Dino. It was hard to read and think about anyone having to go through something like that.

Clergy abuse & institutional abuse. A resource for men who have experienced childhood sexual abuse or sexual assault, and for their supporters. I read these stories to help me with my addiction to pornography, because I know when I look at porn I’m just fooling myself into believing that somehow a girl in a bikini(not a naked one only the ones that are partially clothed of course) could make me feel better about my life. Your stories along with God’s love are what helps me push through the pain and selfishness in my life that started my addiction. Living WellWednesday, 30th October, 2019 at 12:25 am.

I was sexually abused as a child. Abuse is often intergenerational and institutional, thriving in hierarchical power structures, such as primate groups-or human families. We must bear in mind two things: Nothing is as bad as the original trauma, which we survived, and the trauma we endured now has a real meaning the second time around.

About a Boy is a 1998 coming of age novel written by British writer Nick Hornby which has sold over a million copies. The novel was later adapted into a feature film in 2002 and a television series in 2014. Set in 1993 London, About a Boy features two main protagonists: Will Freeman, a 36-year-old bachelor, and Marcus Brewer, an incongruous schoolboy described as 'introverted' by his suicidal mother, Fiona, despite his tendencies to bond and interact with people.

Hands down, this is the most complete and honest book I have seen for children about sexual abuse. This book is about Dino, about 10 years old, who is groomed and then abused by his basketball coach. Doris Sanford does an amazing job of capturing Dino's emotions as he experiences the abuse, finally telling, going through the court process, group therapy, and how to re-channel angry behaviors about the abuse, while being helped by a spirit-like guide, a white dove and his very understanding mother. Graci Evan's illustrations are beautifully evocative of the whole experience. The last two pages include author/illustrator notes addressed to children and parents on dealing with the roller coaster ride of abuse. My only quibble is the publisher did not allow for enough pages, so the last illustration, which should have been a stand alone for the end pages, was the location of the author's direct advice to children and parents. It was hard to read the words, as they competed with the illustration. I have ordered this author's book about a girl's experience with child abuse. Unfortunately, this book is out of print in this age of #MeToo, but ask for it at your local library.

I bought this book for a child who was molested and it addresses many of the issues a child faces when they are facing control by an adult relative. It helped answer many questions.

This book takes a very difficult subject and with great care understanding speaks to the child who has already been sexually abused. It is a great book for parents, children and adults. It includes encouragement that people of faith will find comforting as well. The author's second book for little girls, "I Can't Talk About It," also is an exceptional read.

I purchased this book for my 9 yr old son. I found it to be an excellent tool for discussion for his feelings. The Questions he first asked me are approached in this book and the issues are very on target. I especially liked the ending of the book, forgiveness, comes when YOU are ready!! EXCEPTIONAL>
