Mitsuo Shiozu is put in an awkward position when his mind and body are taken over by the two young women, in that he's a young man, who winds up acting like the women. This was an anniversary gift for my wife. She's had the first three for as long as I can remember and now she can finish reading it for the first time! I don't know how good it is because she won't let me touch it. :P

This series was going so well...until Volume 4, the last volume in the series. Even this final volume was doing well throughout most of the book, but crashed and burned after the commotion in the forest with the *cursed* doll. (That's all I'll say so I don't give too much away for those who haven't made it this far.) I actually would have been okay if the series had ended with the forest bit considering how bad the actual ending was. So here's the problem:

1.) The ending is out of character for Mitsuo. Based on his responses up to this point, he wouldn't have acted the way he did in the end. Yes, on the last page you saw a glimmer of the original Mitsou in the little student/teacher blurb, but the pages before that were way off-based for the little "cutie."

2.) The ending feels like there was a time limit on the final pages and the idea done with the least amount of time and thought won.

Even with this slap-dash ending, the rest of the Eerie Queerie series is so good that you'll wish there was a Volume 5. (and 6, 7, 8...)

P.S. The super-deformed bits are very cute. For an overload of sweetness, check out the "Watermelon" story in Volume 1. If you take a liking to Hasunuma, take a look at the fold-out inside Volume 2.
