I found a copy of The Spiritual Man online, and read the entire book, all three sections, online during a time of extreme spiritual awareness and growth in the Lord which came after a time of repentance and some definite and supernatural movement of the Holy Spirit within me. Even though I've grown up in a Christian home, was very devout, prayed daily for hours, and grew much as a Christian in my college years, there were a lot of spiritual truths that I did not experience yet or understand.

This is a complete presentation on the workings of the human spirit and soul and body. The book aims at delivering people from the tyranny of self life with its carnality and from the domination of the passions and lusts of the flesh. It attempts to lead them to the full salvation of Christ. It is not to be taken as a manual but as a guide to true spirituality. It is recommended that this three volume work be read quickly through once. Then, lay it aside and wait until the Holy Spirit leads one into a certain stage of spiritual life when knowledge and understanding are needed. Turn, then to the special section of the book dealing with that particular experience for enlightenment. Thus, it will be realized that in Thy light, shall we see light (Ps. 36.9 ). May God use this book to help people in their journeying towards the spiritual.

I came upon this book decades ago, which it was still published in three volumes. Nee has outlined the divisions of our spirit, soul and body in ways that to this day are the most profitable to my pilgrimage that I've ever heard since.
In this context, I'll also recommend "The Latent Power of the Soul" by Nee. Together, these works bring clarity to profit any believer serious about pursuing union with God and serving Him in a trustworthy, reliable manner.

A welcome eye opener. For me it's the bridge between the bible and our lives. If you want help walking by Gods guidance (and This book helped me realise just how off I was/am even when I think I'm on) then this book is the help you're looking for. I've recommended it to my loved ones and they've recommend it to their loved ones too. It's definitely a must reAd. It's a guide so it's best to read it right through but then to check in with it all along your spiritual journey. Precious. Life changing!

I read this book (actually it is three volumes) 25 years ago at one of the most difficult times of my life. It took a year to read. No one seemed able to help me at the time. Volume 3 gave me insight I needed. It explained how I had fallen into wrong thinking (even though well-intended) and what i needed to do to get out of the situation, renew my mind and get back to my normal state. It even explained that a certain bible passage (Phil 2:13), which when misinterpreted a certain way causes certain problems like I had. And sure enough, i misinterpreted that passage that way. Nee said when a person goes through these tough times and is renewed, they are stronger in the end than they were in the beginning. And that is what happened with me. My copy of this book is well worn. Best book I have read, next to the Bible.

For anyone who wants to grow spiritually, besides the Holy Bible this is the book to read. Just like the Bible, this book helps you understand your makeup as a human being and the nature of your being in order to help one understand the wha the Bible means when it says you are the body of Christ, which is made of the Body, Soul and Spirit. The Spiritual Man helps one understand the functioning of each and once you understand this it will enlighten you to seek the will of God and live it, that is if one truly want to understand and get closer to God. The Spiritul Man is my other Bible.

This book (as well as The Normal Christian Life, also by Nee) was extremely helpful and helped me understand certain truths better as well as what I was going through. Later, I ordered the paperback copy from Amazon, as I much prefer reading from the paper pages than from the computer screen. I have read through most parts again, and am continuing to refer to it now and then.

Great book. The 2 Prefaces are very important to read, and to read again if possible a few times while going through the chapters. This is a 3 Volume Work. In my reading, I tried to read without judging whether or not I 'thought' something was completely true or not, with the most difficult area near the ends of the book regarding demons and healing which he went to great lengths to repeat over and over again in various ways. I didn't know if that was intentional for specific reasons on Nee's part or not OR if it had something to do with his nationality or environment he grew up around. I just can't say for certain one way or the other so no point in judging it one way or the other either but just be receptive to anything without 'pretending or trying to make something real in my head"..doing so doesn't make anything Real..most of what I read (for example) had already been made Real or had in some way never been expressed in Words. This is not a 'for entertainment purposes only' book.
