Vo. 0, (Romans-Galatians). The response to this new development was for the Jews to become more secluded. Such a perception may have contributed several decades later to tensions between Jews and non-Jews leading up to the revolt, although it is difficult to prove such a casual, long-term development 14. Another historical influence that may have caused tension was the expulsion of Jews by Emperor Claudius from Rome around .

About The Expositor's Bible. Right here we are met with the welcome aid of The Expositor's Bible. It must be acknowledged that a company of writers of the same caliber and qualifications could hardly be brought together at the present day. Both clergy and laity are here helped to understand the Scriptures as 'profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for instruction which is in righteousness.

To be fair, I have yet to use this particular volume.

I’ve spent this summer reading more than a dozen commentaries on Genesis. Sailhamer is simply underrated. (The same can be said for most of his writings.) Granted, it’s not a technical commentary, but I continue to find assessments and exegetical points in this commentary that are unique to it. Frankly, I’m baffled as to why I often find sparse citations or references to Sailhamer in many newer commentaries. If you overlook this Expositor’s volume because it is not technical or detailed enough, you are doing yourself a disservice. It’s worth at least a complement to any other references that you use.

This is one volume of a series of expository treatment of the entire Bible. It is considered essential by me to understanding the Scripture which is very important to me. The book is in excellent shape and almost pristine in condition.

Very good commentaries, go into detail about each passage. I highly recommend the commentaries written by this author. We use them in our Torah classes.

This is partially a review of this particular commentary and partly a general review on the set. I used the Genesis commentary, as well as a bit of the Exodus one, in teaching a Sunday School class over the year. I preferred the Genesis commentary here over a second one I had purchased as a single volume on Genesis, finding this to be more helpful and fair to the text an at the same time being more concise.

However, as many of you may be reading this review with a mind to purchase the set, I can say that I'm very satisfied with my purchase of it. Every portion of the set has been quite helpful, and this is an amazingly simple and inexpensive way to assemble a good library of commentaries on the entire Bible. Obviously the commentaries are not as thorough as one may find in other series, such as the excellent (although not yet quite complete) "New International Commentary on the New Testament" or a similar series. However, for most Christians who teach or lead small groups in their churches, this set can serve as a great resource to get started with, and one that can easily be supplimented with specific volumes that treat a book of the Bible in greater depth as those books are needed. Additionally, this resource can be more useful than a larger volume in situations where one is interested in looking at a few chapters of scripture at a time, or where one just needs to understand what a verse or two might mean. Thanks to the very clear and practical verse by verse organization, it's a terrific tool to do just that.

Strongly recommended.
